Wiping the Strap Right After a Try-On试戴完的表带,柜台顺手擦一遍

The customer slides the watch off and hands it back, and the inside of the strap often carries foundation, sweat and a smear of hand cream. They may not notice — the next person who tries it on will feel it. A quick wipe at the counter is both courtesy and hygiene.
We keep a soft cloth cut from the BD1 microfiber pouch by the try-on table. It's genuine microfiber: soft, and it doesn't shed lint the way ordinary velvet does, so it's safer on leather straps and metal bracelets. While the customer is taking the watch off, the associate runs the cloth along the strap's grain, inside and out. Fifteen seconds. The strap looks new again. No wet wipes — water lifts the finish on leather and leaves streaks in the bracelet links.
Once it's off, the watch goes back to a rest. The TP25 tray, black microfiber with a champagne-gold frame, is modular with separate slots. The watch lies flat in its groove and the strap relaxes open instead of curling into a knot. Too many stores drop a tried-on watch onto a velvet pad; the strap bends, and the next time it's picked up it carries a crease that reads as wear.
Leather straps fear sweat most. On busy summer days the inside gets damp, so dry it fully before it goes back. Metal bracelets are easier, but the back of the links catches foundation; a pass with the cloth handles it. Turn the crystal too — a fingerprint on sapphire is invisible head-on and obvious in raking light.
On heavy try-on days, at close, move the frequently handled pieces into the SH47 five-piece set, dark-green-black leather with cream velvet and flocked slots and a strong magnetic close. The watch lies flat, doesn't shift, and opens the next morning still crisp. Give the most-tried piece a fixed slot so the associate grabs it fast and the case doesn't pick up fine scratches.
This isn't the same as weekly care for the permanent display watch. That's monthly: dust, oil, rotation. Try-on cleaning is every time, the moment the watch comes off. Different rhythm, different cloth — display pieces get dry velvet, try-on pieces get lint-free microfiber so no fibers wedge into the strap.
Go light. The strap is soft; scrubbing it raises a pale, matte patch, especially on satin leather. Follow the grain, two passes, done. Keep two cloths in rotation; a fresh one beats one used to the end.
Some associates skip it under pressure, sliding the watch straight back onto the stand still warm from the last wrist. The customer says nothing and feels everything. The try-on is the most decisive ten seconds before a sale; leaving the strap clean is non-negotiable. The detail pays for itself — customers rarely comment on a clean strap, but they notice a sticky one, and they remember. In a category where the object is supposed to feel personal, handing it back unmarked is the cheapest trust you can build.
