The base can't be skimmed. The neck form is cantilevered, weight forward, so without base weighting a single counter wipe topples it. SJ19 carries weighting plus a non-slip pad — it stays put through cleaning and never scars the glass. The join between neck and base has to be solid: the form drops onto an embedded insert and locks, and it shouldn't shift after a couple of shakes.
The surface also has to take abuse. Behind the counter it gets touched all day, so the enamel needs to be hard enough that a fingernail leaves no mark and a damp cloth no stain. When you choose one, don't just admire the shine up front. Turn it over for the seam, run a thumb along the neck for specks, line the height variants up to check the curve stays consistent. Ask the real numbers — how many bakes, how many height tiers, whether the base is weighted — and the delivery will be steady.
One thing gets missed: pendant length. A short chain and a long one drape from different points on the same neck; a long sweater chain can slip from the chest down to the side, which is exactly why SJ19 offers three heights — so the client picks the stand to the hero piece's length. In transit the neck form needs its own bubble wrap, not crushed in a box with other props; one knock and you've got a white chip no touch-up can hide.
